A Message from Dr. Christiane Deschenes, Chief of Staff
Almonte General Hospital has started to resume some non-urgent surgeries, diagnostic imaging tests, and ambulatory care services that were postponed due to COVID-19. Priority will be given to patients with the most pressing needs. Patients will be called to rebook their appointments. If you need urgent care, please go to the Emergency Department.
This resumption of services will be very gradual, over weeks and possibly months. We are collaborating with Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital and other hospitals in the region to meet the provincial requirements. For example, we need to have enough personal protective equipment (masks, gowns) and we need to ensure that there is room in the hospitals should the number of COVID-19 cases increase.
A few things have changed at the hospital. Everyone is now screened at the door. All staff and physicians are wearing masks. And we have increased the number of hand sanitizing stations throughout the hospital. We want our patients to feel safe when they come to AGH – and we have taken every precaution to ensure that.
I understand that the pandemic has caused anxiety and stress for patients whose care has been delayed. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing more patients soon.
